Top Navigation and Maps Apps in Switzerland, Q3 2024

In the third quarter of 2024, the top navigation and maps applications in Switzerland showcased varied performance metrics. According to Sensor Tower data, the following apps led the category: Google Maps, Trip Planner - Polarsteps, swisstopo, Waze Navigation & Live Traffic, and Google Earth.

Google Maps maintained a strong presence with downloads steadily increasing throughout the quarter, peaking at 12K in the final week of September. Its weekly active users (WAU) fluctuated slightly, beginning at around 2M and closing the quarter near 2.03M.

Trip Planner - Polarsteps experienced a gradual rise in downloads, reaching a high of 10.6K in the last week of September. The app's WAU also grew steadily, starting at 41K and ending at approximately 55K, reflecting increasing user engagement.

The swisstopo app witnessed a decline in downloads over the quarter, from 6.4K in mid-July to 4.1K by late September. However, its revenue saw a modest increase, with a notable peak of $14 in the week of September 23. WAU remained relatively stable, fluctuating around 56K to 59K throughout the period.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic showed a decline in downloads, starting at 5.1K and dropping to 3.2K by the end of September. Despite this, its active user base remained robust, with WAU peaking at 141K in mid-August before tapering off to 124K by quarter's end.

Lastly, Google Earth experienced a steady decline in downloads, beginning at 3.3K and decreasing to 2.9K. Its WAU showed minor fluctuations, starting at 36K and ending at 33K.
